How much does it cost to rent a tram in Milan for a party
Renting a historic tram in Milan for a private party costs from €2,000 for the Classic car and from €3,000 for the Luxury car: final prices, VAT included, for three hours around the city centre with a dj, a barman and an event manager on board. The car is a flat price: it does not change whether you are ten people or fifty-five. Food and drinks are chosen separately and added on, from €12 per person for the light buffet to €60 for the full dinner, with the open bar at €35 per person. For companies the price list is €2,500 and €3,500 plus VAT.
This is the first thing everybody asks, so here is the answer in writing, with every number in it, instead of a generic “ask us for a quote”. The price list below has been in force since 1 October 2026.
What the price of the tram includes
The tram is hired for three hours, counted from the moment it leaves the depot, with two fifteen-minute stops along the way. The price of the car includes everything that makes the evening work:
- the 1930s historic tram with its driver;
- a personalised route through the centre of Milan;
- the interior set-up of the car;
- the dj set with the sound system on board;
- the people working with you: dj, barman and event manager;
- cleaning of the car before and after.
There are two cars. The Classic has cushions, carpet and plants: warm and elegant, it is the choice for eight parties out of ten. The Luxury has an Eighties interior designed by Milanese designers, presented at Milan Design Week 2019, with a television on board.

Food and bar: what gets added
Food and drinks are calculated per person and added to the price of the car. The kitchen is run by chef Fabio Sironi and every proposal can be adapted.

Two things to know before you do the maths. Catering is calculated on a minimum of twenty people, even if there are fifteen of you on board. And from Menu 4 upwards two people are added, once per event: the chef (food attendant) at €200 and an extra waiter at €200. The Buffet menu has neither, as it is designed to go with the drinks.
Two real totals, from start to finish
Forty people, birthday party, Classic car. Tram €2,000 + Menu 4 at €24 each (€960) + chef €200 + extra waiter €200 + open bar at €35 each (€1,400) = €4,760, that is €119 per person, everything included.
Twenty people, long aperitivo, Classic car. Tram €2,000 + Buffet menu at €12 each (€240) + light open bar at €30 each (€600) = €2,840, that is €142 per person.
The rule is easy to see: the more of you there are, the less it costs per head, because the tram is paid for once.
What is not included
- Food, bar and extra services: they are chosen and added, as you saw above.
- There are no toilets on board: at the two stops we use the bars and venues nearby, and our staff walk the guests there.
- Outside catering is not allowed: food and bar on board are handled by us. It is not a commercial rule, it is a practical one — on a working historic tram, loading times, food storage and cleaning have to be handled by people who know the vehicle. The cake, on the other hand, you can bring (cake service €4 per person), or we make it, from €250.
- Logos and branding on the outside of the car: not part of a private hire. That is a different line, Discotram Business, with its own price list.

When to book, and how a date is held
You need at least twenty days notice, because the tram is not ours: every hire has to be confirmed with ATM, the Milan transport company, and we do not control how long that takes. In the busy months — May, June, December — it is worth moving earlier.
The mechanism is simple: we hold the date on option for 24 hours, free of charge; the date is actually locked with a €1,000 deposit by bank transfer. From that moment on we take care of the rest.
